Diane Weston Memorial Scholarship

The WEDC Foundation lost one of its great supporters in 2001 with the death of Diane Weston. As president of Uwohali, the government contractor she founded in 1986, Diane was one of the first 8-A contractors in Huntsville and paved the way for other women and minority owned businesses. She received numerous awards for her business leadership but Diane was a great community leader as well.

Closest to her heart was the Dallas-Lincoln Mills revitalization project and her work with the homeless. She was also the founder of the Women's Economic Development Council along with Sheri Sensabaugh. Diane said that one of the things she most wanted to do through the Foundation was to provide non-traditional funding that took into account the unique needs of individual women. Diane will be missed but her legacy of courageous leadership and triumph over adversity will live on in the lives of the women who benefit from the support of the WEDC Foundation. We remember Diane's legacy and establish the endowment that will fund the Diane Weston Scholarship for years to come.

Contributions to the Weston Scholarship and/or the WEDC Foundation are always welcome. We strive on a daily basis to ensure that the WEDC Foundation is making an important contribution in the lives of local women.
