Edward Jones Ranks No. 2 on "Best Places to Work in Alabama" 2011 List

The financial services firm Edward Jones was named the No. 2 large company on the "Best Places to Work" in Alabama, according to Kitty Davenport, a financial advisor in Huntsville.

The "Best Places to Work in Alabama" honor is the most recent in a series of important recognitions the firm recently has received. In its 12th year on the list, Edward Jones was named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For in America" by FORTUNE magazine in its annual listing. The firm took the No. 11 overall spot in the FORTUNE ranking and also ranked No. 2 for large companies.

Business Alabama teamed up with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., to rank the state's best employers. 14 companies were named Best Places to Work in Alabama for 2011, divided into 5 large companies, 5 medium-sized companies and 4 small companies by the number of people they employ in Alabama.

The ranking was based on an employer inventory of practices and an anonymous survey of employees, who were asked to agree or disagree with dozens of statements about the firm, teamwork and their individual experience at the firm. On the 2010 list, Edward Jones ranked No. 1.

Edward Jones has 123 branches all over Alabama. The firm is growing, adding branches and seeking new financial advisors who are interested in operating an entrepreneurial office with the support and benefits of one of the oldest and largest firms in the industry.
